After completing an ascent of Little Galatea, it only made sense to make a quick side trip to Rummel Lake before heading back down to the highway. We were already over halfway there after all, and the sun was breaking through the forest, promising beautiful views to end the day :).
From the junction where we had left the Rummel Lake Trail earlier in the day, we continued down the trail, as it descended towards Rummel Creek. As we crossed over the creek, we spotted the north end of Little Galatea's summit ridge. Felt like just moments ago that we sat up there, looking down!
As we continued up the trail, as it gently gained elevation on the opposite side of the creek, we were accompanied by large snowflakes peacefully drifting down. Although quite pretty themselves, this was slightly disheartening, as it meant the warm sun, that promised views at the lake, was gone as well.
To our surprise, just as we emerged at the lake, the sun began breaking through the clouds once again, and the snow started to ease off! Photo credit: Dad
Impressive, colourful cliffs form a wall above Rummel Lake's south shores!
The Tower's long west ridge rises above the forest in the opposite direction.
And of course, the highlight view! Mount Galatea looms almost 1000 vertical meters above!
Close up of multiple slide paths funnelling down to Rummel Lake.
Little Galatea (with its sheer northeast face), is also visible, looking back to the north.

Incredible panoramic view! I guess this is why you visit lakes in winter! Photo credit: Dad
One last look at the highest mountain in its respective range, illuminated in the sunlight. We sure lucked out with views on this one :)!
Neat lil’ tree!
The route down kinda goes without explanation...We did however make a few shortcuts of our own, and almost completely cut off the switch-back distance...Although we did eventually find ourselves in some dense bush...¯\_(ツ)_/¯
